Tuesday 27 January 2015

13th January was apparently a great day for
all of us. Irrespective of the fact that it
was a holiday because of the much awaited festival
Lohri in Punjab, fortune favoured us and we got a
remarkable response from students from our as well as nearby colleges.
The students showed up in ever increasing numbers. The hall was filled
with students in a short interval of time.

The event started at 1:00pm (Convention Hall, DAVIET) with a fellow FSA and
my senior Mr. Divyajot Singh welcoming our Principal,
the HODs, faculty members and the students attending the
event in his addressing speech.
After that he invited Prof. Kohli to enlighten the students
about the fast growing world of technology
as well as the role of internet in providing education and
connecting the world by a single thread.

There is a saying in Punjab that
Punjabis neither come silently nor they leave silently. So
how could it have been possible to start such an awesome fest
on an auspicious day just with an informative speech...
BbbbuuuuUUUuuurrrraaAAAaaahhhhhhHHHHH....!!!!!!
Our college bhangra team was ready to steal the show. They danced,
they sang and made us go GA-GA with them. They pumped the
environment and it was a perfect start for our maker party.

Now it was the turn of college's musical band Araj. With two guitarists,
a pianist and one drummer, they did absolute wonders and the entire hall
echoed with their melodies. This was then followed by the Tabla sensation
of not only our college but of the entire university, Master Sandeep.
Sandeep has even represented the college at the Youth Festival and as usual,
won many hearts by his art, the way he plays the instrument is commendable.

After the inaugration ceremony we then started with our technical events
at the seminar hall of our college. It was then the time for the Head of
the Institution to send his word of awareness among the students.
First of all, he appreciated the Firefox Team for their amazing efforts
that made this day possible in the College. He then welcomed all the HODs
and congratulated all the students to be a part of the great event.
Concluding with his technical witness, he said that the college will always
be ready and supportive to conduct more such events in the future.

Another senior Mr. Arjun Sahni then took over the charge to explain the
initiative that the Firefox Group had taken and the very purpose of
organizing such events.

This was followed by the talks of various professors on important
topics.Prof. Kahlon enlightened the students about the features and the bright future of 3D animation. Prof. Kumar then delivered a lecture on the trending topics of android and the benefits of this OS. The students got to know

a lot about game development by the informative lecture of Prof. Bhardwaj.
Prof. Dubey delivered his thoughts about the open web which was followed by
his colleague Prof. Khanna who talked about web development. The most sought
after topic "Robotics" was covered up by Prof. M.K.Singh and Prof. H.L. Kashyap
gave a short lecture on web security.

The lectures session ended with Quizilla-The Open Web Quiz Game. It had two rounds -
prelims and the final round. Students took part with great enthusiasm
and made the event a success.

We got a overwhelming response of over 300 students. I thank my team
for making this event a success
